Crowns and bridges are laboratory-made restorations that are used to strengthen teeth, improve the chewing function and the overall look of a smile.
Dental crown
A dental crown is a cap made of porcelain or metal that protects and seals a broken, weak or decayed tooth.
Teeth can break because of a strong bite, night time grinding or simply because they’ve had numerous fillings over the years.
A crown is also recommended if a tooth has had root canal treatment as the tooth itself has been cleaned out from the inside and is no longer as strong as a natural tooth.

Everything you need to know
First visit
During the first 45 minute appointment your dentist will numb the tooth with anaesthetic, prepare it to make space for the crown and take an impression with a digital scanner.
You will leave on the day with a temporary crown. The final one will meanwhile be fabricated by our Australian laboratory, following the dentist’s instructions in regards to material, shape and colour.
Second visit
You will return for a second 30minute appointment, where your dentist will remove the temporary crown and cement down your final one. Bite will be checked and adjusted, if required. Your crowned tooth will feel and look like a natural tooth and you will be able to brush it and floss it as normal. In some instances we can manufacture same-day crowns.
Dental bridge
A dental bridge is a good fixed option to replace a missing tooth when an implant-supported crown is not possible, due to lack of bone or other medical conditions.
A dental bridge looks like three crowns fused together and it requires the preparation of the two teeth on either side of the gap where the tooth is missing.
The procedure is similar as having a single crown done, but performed on 2 or more teeth at once.
Your dental team will advise you on how to best look after your dental crowns and bridges and will always recommend to have them checked every six months.
